It was a historical event on Sunday when the Oragun of Oke-Ila, Osun State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Adedokun paid a visit to the ancient town of Ilara Kingdom, Eredo LCDA, Epe Division, Lagos State.
Oba Adedokun a renowned philanthropist and also the founder of Abolarin College was highly welcomed by His Royal Majesty Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo and his wife Olori Abimbola Ogunsanwo and council chiefs.
As the visit was coincidentally on Fathers’ day, the first Royal Family led Oba Adedokun to St. David Anglican Church in Illara for holy blessings.
The officiating priest urged fathers and other church members to acknowledge the responsibilities of fathers in families and society.
Oba Adedokun in his short address promised to enroll a poor child from Illara to his prestigious Abolarin College, Illara Oregun.
The Abolarin college is a completely free education school with boarding facilities for poverty-stricken and street children across the country.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog, Oba Adedokun who was the former special adviser on legal matters to then President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim revealed that the essence of his visit was to strengthen brotherly ties between him and the Alara.
The Oba further noted that he visited to share leadership ideas and experiences.
In his words, “He must confront challenges frontally and he should be futuristic. He should create a template foe future leaders of Illara to build upon.”
His Royal Majesty went further to appreciate Chief Oluwalogbon for his contributions to the development of Illara.
“We must affect humanity and I am happy that young souls will now see what we’re trying to use royalty to do, it’s to create exploits, it’s doable. We can make Nigeria be the best of countries in the world. The traditional institution is a great institution to promote development and that’s what we’re trying to do. I wish my brother very well, he’s going to live long and his reign will be peaceful with landmark achievement,” he said.
Oba Adedokun admonished men to be kind and carter for their families, stating that the development of community, town, state and nation is based on proper establishment of social values in family.
Also speaking, the Alara of Illara Kingdom, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo who was delighted to have received Oba Adedokun revealed that based on Yoruba civilization, the Alara, Orangun of Oke-Ila, Ajero are all direct descendants of Oduduwa.

Describing the visit as a historic one having received the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja the 1st, a month ago, the Alara said “A Royal father visiting us on a Fathers Day is exciting. He has done a lot for his community, has given street children and orphans a new lease of life.
“They can now achieve what they feel like achieving as young people, many of them are striving to become engineers, doctors, Lawyers and other nice professions. He has chosen the education field to reach out not to his community alone but all over Nigeria and it is something that we are really proud of.”
