“If given the opportunity to fly the party’s flag, it would be a privilege,” Kalu said.
He added that his current focus is on returning to the Senate in 2027 to continue his legislative work.
Addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, Kalu criticized the country’s lack of structured economic processes, noting that Nigeria has struggled without a well-organized economy for decades.
He emphasized the need for the government to cut unnecessary expenses to manage the ongoing hardships.
“There’s global deflation, but Nigeria’s situation is worse because we’ve never had a proper economy.
“Our institutions are weak, and President Tinubu is working to rebuild them. His decisions might be right or wrong, but they are necessary for the future,” Kalu remarked.
He also urged the government to adopt austerity measures, cutting back on unnecessary spending and foreign aid. “We need to scale down on unnecessary government expenditures and gifts to other countries. It’s time to live within our means,” he concluded.
