Oshiomhole Endorses Oil Magnate, Hosa Okunbor As Edo Next Governor
There happens to be no light at the end of tunnel on the ambition of Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, as far as the latest move by his political godfather, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, is concerned.
Both leaders have been engaged in running battle over the governor’s second term plan which his predecessor is reportedly working to stop.
A very reliable source in the camp of the ruling APC national chairman, revealed that, the former governor had made up his mind to stop Obaseki whom he foisted on the Edo people in 2016.
He was said to have endorsed billionaire businessman, Captain Hosa Wells Okunbor, for the November 2020 governorship election in Edo State, thereby sealing the hope of Obaseki to return for a second term.
On Saturday, 31st of August, 2019, the source claimed that Oshiomhole led Okunbor on a night visit to party elders and stakeholders in Edo State seeking their blessing for his choice for Obaseki’s successor.
At the meeting, which happened before both attended the birthday celebration of a party leader, Chief Edebiri, in Benin City alongside APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, regaled the source, Oshiomhole explained his reasons for rejecting Obaseki for another term outside what is being fed the public by the media.
However, it was alleged by an interested party that, both Oshiomhole and Okunbor are confidants, although the latter was known to be an ally of PDP stalwarts and alleged financier of the former ruling party. The source claimed that Okunbor once launched a $750 million farm in Edo State, which Oshiomhole, who was the governor then, hosted with fanfare.
