Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has been tipped to revive Napoli’s disappointing season after his impressive hat-trick in the 6-1 victory against Sassuolo on Wednesday.
Osimhen’s impressive achievement propels him to the 13th position in Napoli’s all-time scorers list. Additionally, he joins the ranks of Diego Maradona and Attila Sallustro as the third player in the club’s history to score at least 10 goals in four consecutive Serie A seasons, as reported by Opta.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen is not just a remedy for Napoli’s issues but a decisive factor, earning him a commendable score of eight for his stellar performance.
“He made errors sometimes but continued to create chances. He even played a long ball for Kvara, who scored 5-1.
Napoli hadn’t scored at least six goals in a game since October 2022, when they secured an away 6-1 win at Ajax in the Champions League group phase, Osimhen was the magic.”
Another Italian daily, Il Corriere dello Sport also called the Nigeria international ‘unstoppable’ and a ‘hurricane’ that overwhelmed Ruan Tressoldi and Gian Marco Ferrari.
Osimhen notched his fifth goal in three games for Napoli after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, marking his 13th this season across all competitions. With a total of 72 goals in 122 games for Napoli, he shares the fourth spot in the Serie A top scorers standings with Paulo Dybala, boasting 11 goals from 15 games.
Despite the champions holding onto ninth place, they are now only eight points away from the top four. Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport also rated the Nigerian striker eight.
“He is the reason, Napoli is getting back to form,” Tuttosport wrote.
