Osimhen Reveals Player That Convinced Him To Join Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen has revealed that he consulted with his former Napoli teammate, Dries Mertens, before making the decision to join Galatasaray on loan.

On Monday, Osimhen agreed to spend the 2024/25 season with the Turkish Super Lig champions.

The Nigerian international arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday morning, where he was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at the airport.

The 25-year-old, visibly in high spirits, eagerly engaged with fans and joined in the chants in the airport’s arrivals area.

Osimhen and Mertens were teammates at Napoli before the Belgian made the move to Galatasaray. Now, the two will reunite and play together once again in Istanbul.

“The atmosphere is incredible. It’s great to be here and to see Mertens again. I spoke to him before coming here,” Osimhen said, via Corriere dello Sport.
