EKO HOT BLOG reports that the future of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen at Napoli remains uncertain, with recent reports suggesting that both Chelsea and Arsenal have withdrawn from the race to sign him.
According to Italian transfer expert Ciro Troise, while PSG and Chelsea initially showed interest in the Nigerian forward, his hefty release clause of around £110 million posed a significant hurdle.
Chelsea, which had earlier considered a deal involving Romelu Lukaku moving to Napoli, has now shifted its focus to Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion as a potential replacement.
Similarly, Arsenal, who had also expressed interest, has reportedly pulled out of the race.
Troise noted that, “Osimhen? Nothing has changed,” indicating that PSG remains cautious, with no movement beyond €70 million and still needing to sell Kolo Muani.
Additionally, Napoli’s new manager, Antonio Conte, reportedly prefers Lukaku for the upcoming season, increasing the pressure on Osimhen to find a new club.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano offers a different perspective, stating that nothing significant has changed regarding Osimhen’s future, implying that Chelsea and Arsenal might still be interested. Despite securing multiple signings this summer, Chelsea is still in the market for a top striker, with Osimhen as a long-term target.
Complications have arisen, though, as Osimhen reportedly does not want to consider a loan move, and Chelsea is hesitant to meet his high release clause.
With potential departures of strikers like Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana, Chelsea might find themselves short on experienced forwards, increasing the need for a player like Osimhen.
As the transfer window progresses, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, with clubs reassessing their options.
Osimhen’s contract with Napoli is set to expire on June 30, 2026, which means he will remain a Napoli player if no move materializes this summer.
