EKO HOT BLOG reports that the husband of popular gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has been arrested by the police over the death of his wife.
Mr Nwachukwu was arrested by men of the Lugbe police division today April 10 after the brother of the late singer reported a case of suspected homicide to the police. T
This comes amidst reports that he has over the years subjected late Osinachi to severe beatings.
The 42-year-old artiste died on Friday after spending days at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja.
Colleagues of Osinachi, who was a lead singer at the Dunamis International Headquarters, Abuja, accused her husband of beating her.
Pastor Chioma Ibezim on her Facebook page revealed that the late Osinachi Nwachukwu suffered abuse at the hands of her husband which led to her death.
Also, a popular singer, Frank Edwards, in a live Instagram video, alleged that Osinachi’s husband abused her on several occasions.
The Nigerian pastor said the Lord revealed everything to her about her ordeal and when she asked her (Osinachi), she confirmed what she was going through and more amidst tears.
Pastor Chioma Ibezim posted;
“REST IN PEACE MINISTER OSINACHI! The very first time I hosted this Angel, God opened her up to me like a television, and she wept like a baby as she confirmed all and said even much more. She opened up to me and hid absolutely nothing.
“She confided in me till last week. I just don’t want to talk! She died prematurely! It could have been averted😭 The wickedness was so much😭 She died in silence.
“She decided to endure the abuse, the pain and now DEATH😭! I begged, I pleaded, I counselled, but her “NICE HEART” kept enduring the abuse thinking it will be better rather it got worse.
“I could not go contrary to her wish as a counselor. She wanted absolute privacy trusting God to help her and now death😭 I have not slept all day😭! I have said it,
“NOBODY SHOULD EVER STAY IN AN ABUSIVE MARRIAGE. FORGET WHAT PEOPLE WILL SAY, THEY ARE NOT YOU. YOU HAVE TO SAVE YOU FIRST. I AM SO SAD!”
Also suggesting that Osinachi Nwachukwu’s violent union led to her untimely death, her colleague, Frank Edwards, alleged that the late singer had an abusive husband, who regularly brutalised her before she died.
Mr Edwards made the remarks in an Instagram live video.
Frank Edwards said that Osinachi’s husband was in the habit of publicly insulting his wife, and had abused her on several occasions.
Recounting an encounter with the singer, he said, “One time in a studio, this man slapped her just because she wanted to record the song in Igbo against his will. She does not do anything on her own.”
“She would say, please beg my husband. She was at his mercy. I didn’t know the intensity of what she was going through; I didn’t know how somebody would be jealous of the wife they claim to love.
“There are a lot of stories where people told her this and that, but what I know was that the control was too much. The other time somebody wanted me to get her for an event, and I contacted her, but she said ‘beg my husband.”
The singer also alleged that the late singer’s husband was controlling and would take the money she made from events. He, however, said the singer was secretive about what she was going through in her marriage.
“She couldn’t even tell people what she was going through. I only got to know because Aunty Joy contacted me to promote her song. That was when I got a glimpse into what was happening,” he said.
“It’s crazy,” he lamented.
“People have tried to invite her for their programmes, but she will keep telling them that they must beg my husband first,” he said.
Further narrating Osinachi’s domestic challenges with her husband, Edward said a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joy Nunieh, once gifted the singer a studio in Abuja. Still, her husband never allowed her to use the studio simply because it was built without his permission.
Crying out for Justice, Edward said he would go all out on social media for the first time in his career until justice was served.
“I have never had any reason to have a court case with anyone because I am a child of God, but you see this case, it won’t just go like that because she was a blessing to the world.
“I usually don’t get involved in things like this, I keep my family and personal stuff off social media, but this one hurts me,” he said.
He also said Mrs Nunieh, a lawyer, has promised to take up legal action against Mr Nwanchukwu.
A police source said Peter was arrested on Sunday afternoon.
The source said, “A young man who claimed to be a relative of the late woman came to report the matter at the station and the police went to arrest him at his residence.”
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development.
She said, “He is now in our custody. The younger brother of the deceased reported the matter and we have commenced investigation.”

The Dunamis church lawyer, Felix Tyokase, said the church’s General Overseer, Paul Enenche, just returned from a crusade in Cameroon and had not been briefed on the matter.
“And we have yet to receive any information from the hospital as to the cause of her death,” he added.
