Osinbajo Reaffirms Buhari's Commitment To Providing Free Compulsory Basic Education

The Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, has reaffirmed the commitment of President Buhari to providing free compulsory basic education to all Nigerians.
Osinbajo stated this at the Divine Proclamation Service of the Dominion University, in Ibadan.
He noted that the Federal Government under the leadership of President Buhari was committed to ensuring that every Nigerian child of school age has access to free basic education.
Osinbajo recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari, had, on June 20, made the declaration, on free and compulsory education adding that, the assignment to provide free and compulsory education at the basic level was an important one for the government.
He however, urged states to key into the program by assisting the Federal government ensured that every child of school age has access to free basic education.
He said “We will support them in whatever way we can to ensure that they achieve the objectives of free and compulsory education.”
Osinbajo commended Oyo state government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, for keying into the free and compulsory education programme as declared by the Federal government.
He described Makinde as visionary leader from his commitment to the provision of free education for children in both public primary and secondary schools in the state.
The Governor in his remarks stressed that free basic education has come to stay under his watch.
“Though we understand that four years is not enough to really get to where we are going but it is enough to lay a solid foundation upon which successive administrations will build on,” Makinde said.
