The primary election of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the July 16 governorship election is taking place tomorrow with three aspirants in the Osun 2022 race.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the party’s Screening Committee on Thursday in Abuja screened Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun and two other governorship aspirants ahead of the primaries.

The other two aspirants screened by the committee are a former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff and former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti. Adeoti recently defected from the Action Democratic Party (ADP) to join the APC.
Oyetola and Yusuff are from Osun Central Senatorial District, Adeoti is from Osun West Senatorial District.
Working ahead of the party’s preference for a direct primary election, the trio has intensified the campaign among members of the party and canvassed for votes in the nooks and crannies of the state.
As the primary remains a few hours away, it is no longer news that a deep crisis had enveloped the party and it has continued to degenerate since the emergence of Oyetola as the governor of the state.
Regardless of the outcome, political analysts are saying the battle for the APC ticket for Osun 2022 governorship poll would go down in the political history of the state as one of the toughest intra-party political contests.
Asides from having intimidating political credentials, the three contestants have powerful political forces across and beyond the state backing them and with the intrigues thrown in so far and the mounting crisis, the state may witness a real election in tomorrow’s APC primary ahead of the July 16 governorship election.
