Osun Begins Post-COVID-19 Economic Incentive Training

Training and empowerment of 15,000 indigenous people per year for the post- COVID-19 has been initiated by the OYO state government on Thursday.

Speaking at the official launch of the programme held at Industrial Development Centre, Oke Ayepe, Osogbo, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, said the state would begin training for 15,000 states in different vocations every year.

Oyetola further explained that the training was provided for in the 2020 budget, although the outbreak of coronavirus affected the initiative, adding that the programme was part efforts to mitigate the harsh impacts of the pandemic.

After the training that would be handled by Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria, Oyetola said a sum of N100 million would be disbursed as seed loans to the participants through the Bank of Industry.

Oyetola said, “To alleviate this negative development, our administration has decided on an economic strategy to generate 15,000 jobs both directly and indirectly annually through the intervention programme that is being launched today.”
