The Osun governor-elect, had on Thursday, July 28, 2022 inaugurated a 37-man transition committee charged with liaising with the committee that will be set up by the State government to ensure a smooth transition of power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olawale, who opined that the APC was yet to overcome the shock of the July 16 gubernatorial electoral defeat, hinted that the outgoing administration was not interested in cooperating with the transition committee.
“All of us have to work for Osun people both governor Oyetola, our governor-elect and we, the leaders.
“This is the time for us to come together and ensure seamless transition. They give us information on what is happening and we also engage them, so that the people of Osun State at the end of the day will be happy for it.
“This is the time for the outgoing governor to direct his aides and commissioners and those that work with him to actually collaborate and work with the transition committee of the governor-elect.
“As to whether we are getting the required cooperation from the outgoing governor and government, you are aware of a bill that is in the State House of Assembly ‘The transition bill’, what we have first done on that is to seek for public hearing,” he said.
He disclosed that the transition committee has written to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly to ensure that the bill regulating transition from one government to another is a product of multi-party contributions.
“We have written to the speaker on that, to ensure that the bill that will regulate transition from one government to the other is a product of multi partition contributions so that it won’t be the APC government alone trying to pull up a bill that will regulate transition from one government to the others,” he stated.
The Bill for the smooth transition of power titled: “the Osun State Transition Bill, 2022”, had on July 26, 2022 scaled through the Second Reading in the Osun State House of Assembly.
