EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Osun state Government has reacted to attack on the members of The Osun Progressives (TOP), a caucus within the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are loyalists of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The is coming days after Adelowo Adebiyi, the Chairman of TOP, alleged that there had been an attempt at assassinating leaders of the splinter group by the government of Adegboyega Oyetola.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, the Osun government bemoaned the slanderous charge against Governor Oyetola, noting that Adebiyi’s attribution of violence to the person of Oyetola was both wicked and unreasonable.
Faulting the narrative of the group’s leader that an attack was launched on the Oranmiyan House as soon as the men of civil defence which provided security cover exited their post, the state government said the narrative was an insult to public intelligence.
While warning the group and its supporters that lawlessness will not be condoned in the state in the name of scoring political points, the state government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and properties of citizens.
The state government noted that Osun State is not a jungle and assured that it will not allow anyone, no matter who they are, to turn it into one.
While describing the allegation of the TOP Chairman that the government was behind an attempt on his life as a wicked assault, it reminded him that slander is punishable according to the Nigerian constitution.
“It is not the fault of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola that the political gamble that Mr Adebiyi and his cohorts took did not pay off. If he and his co-travellers chose to stray from the same family that gave them political life and brought them to prominence, they should be big enough to accept the consequences of their misadventure. Unfortunately, they have blamed every other person but themselves for the embarrassing outcomes of their decisions.
“They have chosen to stay afloat through lies and cheap blackmail rather than accepting the several peace offers of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to return home again.”
