EKO HOT BLOG reports that one month after Governor Ademola Adeleke removed three monarchs from the Osun state communities, Prince Ibraheem Oyelakin was selected as the Oba-elect following a new selection process.
The Nation recalled that Governor Adeleke sacked Owa of Igbajo, Oba Adegboyega Famodun, Are of Iree, Oba Ademola Ponle, and Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Yinusa Akadiri, citing flaws in their selection process.
He mandated a fresh nomination process for new kings.
Oyelakin from the Oyekun ruling house, therefore, emerged as the Oba-elect for the Iree community in the Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.
In a statement issued by the Oba-elect, Prince Ibraheem Oyelakin expressed gratitude to his fellow contestants and appealed for their support during his reign.
He said: “I will never take this privilege for granted. I want to commend the Iwarefa mefa of the Iree kingdom, the Aree in council, the Prince and princess, the Asiwaju of Iree, IPA National President among others for their support.
“The rain we pray for is here, the good news we pray for is here. We all need to bury our past either full of differences, calamities or fairy tales. The bond that strengthens us is stronger than the differences that almost consume us. Iree kingdom is known for relative peace as we all know, let us revisit the history and bring back the memory of a peaceful coexistence we used to enjoy.”
