Osun State Governments Approves Rehabilitation Of Waterworks

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Osun State government has approved the rehabilitation of selected waterworks and pipeline networks in the state to forestall the outbreak of water-borne epidemics. The decision was taken by Governor Ademola Adeleke to address the challenges facing water supply in the state.
Speaking during a radio interview programme in Osogbo on Saturday, the General Manager of the Osun State Water Corporation (OSWC), Engr. Dupeola Jokotola, listed the challenges facing water supply in the state and explained that old Asbestos Cement (AC) pipes laid several years ago are now in a terrible state.

Jokotola also revealed that Governor Adeleke had approved the immediate upgrade of pipeline networks of both the Ede and Osogbo waterworks, alongside the repairs and recharging of water filter media at Iwo and Eko-Ende waterworks.
The governor also approved funds for the purchase of water treatment chemicals while most of the broken old pipes are being replaced with modern durable pipes known as HDPE pipes to improve water supply to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The OSWC General Manager urged the public to promptly pay their monthly water rates to continue enjoying an uninterrupted water supply across the state. He emphasized the need for the state to have an effective and efficient water supply system to prevent water-borne diseases and ensure that the people of Osun State have access to clean and safe drinking water.
