Otedola Hails Tinubu As Dangote Refinery Begins Petrol Production

Billionaire businessman and Chairman of Geregu Power Plc, Femi Otedola, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of the $20 billion Dangote Refinery in Lagos, crediting the President’s backing as instrumental to the project’s success.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a message on his X handle, Otedola wrote, “First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support and belief in actualising this monumental achievement under his administration.”

Otedola continued, “This day belongs to every Nigerian who has dared to dream of a better future. Congratulations to our great nation—today, we all stand a little taller.”

His message was directed to his friend and refinery promoter, Aliko Dangote, on the successful completion of product testing and the imminent release of petrol to the public.

Aliko Dangote mentioned that the release of petrol to the public could occur within hours, pending an agreement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

Reflecting on his long-standing friendship with Dangote, Otedola wrote, “It feels like just yesterday, but it has been 25 long years since we first set our sights on transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape.”

He recalled their efforts to acquire stakes in the Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries and lamented the government’s decision to cancel their stakes, describing it as “utterly obnoxious.”

Despite the setback, Otedola praised Dangote for never giving up on their shared dream, stating, “You have beaten all the skeptics, silenced the naysayers, and proved wrong those who doubted your resolve, even those who never wanted this project to succeed.”

Otedola concluded by lauding Dangote for dealing a significant blow to the local cabals, stating, “You have liberated us from the chains of economic dependence that have held this nation back for far too long.”
