Basketball: In 2021, basketball actually gave smiles and trophies to Nigerians. Both the male and female basketball teams did well last year. Based on their performances last year, it is expected that the government focuses on sustaining the momentum by pumping more money into basketball for more trophy related results.
Boxing: Boxing was once a big sport in Nigeria, but football has relegated it to the background. Boxing once produced world champions for Nigeria, and it needs to take back it rightful place. The government should parley with boxing aficionados and experts, to formulate ways of reviving the big sport.
Tennis: Table Tennis used to be one of the sports that won medals for Nigeria in the Olympics, but sadly, it doesn’t excite Nigerians again. The government needs to open camps around the country to catch young talents, and start building for the next Olympics.
Athletics: The track and field sport has been one sport that also won us medals in previous Olympics. The last Olympics was a bad outing for Nigerian athletes. Hopefully, this year, the government can motivate stakeholders In the track and field sport, to do wonders for the sport.
