Eko Hot Blog reports that Otunba Adeniyi Saliu and his wife, Mrs. Olajumoke Saliu, have been conferred with the chieftaincy titles of Asalu and Yeye Asalu of Odogbawojo, respectively.
The conferment of the chieftaincy titles held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, as part of the one-year coronation anniversary celebration of HRM Oba Maruffdeen Adelani Adeniyi in Odogbawojo, Eredo LCDA, Epe, Lagos State.
Expressing profound gratitude, Otunba Saliu embraced the responsibility, pledging to contribute significantly to the community’s progress.
In an interview, the new Odogbawojo chief remarked that, “This chieftaincy title is well appreciated, considering it’s from my mother’s people, Odogbawojo. It’s a call to duty, and I will continue to contribute my quota to the development of the community.”
He lauded the leadership of HRM Oba Adeniyi, describing him as a commendable king.
“HRM Oba Adelani has started well; he will do well. We are behind him, God is behind him. We will continue to pray and support him,” Otunba Adeniyi said.
He deeply appreciated the presence of the wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, revealing that her presence will be a major boost to continue to do more for the community.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Lagos State Governor’s wife, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for honoring our one-year coronation anniversary celebration with her distinguished presence,” he said.
“Her attendance is a testament to the significance of our community’s milestones, and her support is deeply appreciated. It is truly an encouragement to witness such a respected figure acknowledging and celebrating with us.
“We remain committed to contributing positively to Odogbawojo, and the presence of Mrs. Sanwo-Olu adds an extra layer of motivation to our endeavors.”
Mrs Saliu, the Yeye Asalu of Odogbawojo disclosed her joy at the chieftaincy title conferred on her and her husband and hoped to also contribute positively to the growth and development of the community.
“I am truly honoured to receive the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asalu of Odogbawojo. This recognition from the community means a lot to me, especially as it aligns with my husband’s title,” she said.
“I see it as a responsibility and an opportunity to contribute positively to the growth and development of Odogbawojo. Together with my husband, we aim to make meaningful impacts in the community and continue supporting the vision of HRM Oba Maruffdeen Adelani Adeniyi.
“I appreciate the warm reception and acceptance from the people of Odogbawojo. I am committed to upholding the values associated with this title and working diligently to uplift the well-being of our community.
She as well thanked the First Lady of Lagos State for honouring her and her husband with her presence; “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed Lagos State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for gracing the occasion with her presence. Her support and attendance have added immense joy to the celebration. I am grateful for the recognition and encouragement from such a distinguished personality.”
Notably, the one-year coronation anniversary of Oba Adeniyi commenced on Thursday, featuring diverse activities like interfaith prayers, medical outreach, indoor games, quiz competition, and dancing competition. Friday marked the ceremonial installation of chiefs.
The days-long celebration of the one-year coronation anniversary reached its pinnacle on Saturday with a grand gathering marked by cultural displays, music, and the installation of deserving chiefs.
The ceremony brought together a constellation of dignitaries and royals, reflecting the unity and pride of Odogbawojo kingdom.
Royalties and dignitaries that graced the occasion were HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, Oba Adeshina Sulaimon Adebowale, Oba Musiliu Abiola Oliwo, Dr. Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, Mama Doja Otedola, Hon Wale Anomo, Hon Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, among others.
