The event, titled INTERFACE 101, hosted by Mr. Sanmi Falobi, was held on May 21, 2025, and featured an interactive session and book review focused on the relevance of African proverbs in modern communication.

Otunba Aremo Tajudeen Gbenga Abass, the Publisher and CEO of Ekohotblog, showed altruism and a noble act of giving back to his alma mater, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, by fully funding the donation of an evergreen literature.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the donation and interactive session was tagged INTERFACE 101, hosted by Mr. Sanmi Falobi, a fellow alumni member of the 2018/19 NIJ set and founder of NGO_Media Entrepreneur.

Mr. Sanmi Falobi, in conjunction with Ekohotblog, launched an interactive summit tagged INTERFACE 101, featuring the presentation, review and donation of a book titled “Timeless Lessons from African Proverbs”.
In a gesture of generosity and support for the institution, 50 free copies of the book were paid for and donated to the NIJ Library, staff, and select students — courtesy of a highly esteemed alumnus of the 2018/19 NIJ set, Otunba T.J. Abass, the publisher and CEO of EkoHotBlog and TV.
The event, held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the aesthetically embellished Sir Kessington Resource Media Centre main hall at NIJ, brought together students, staff, and experienced media practitioners for an afternoon that celebrated the timeless value of African wisdom.
In attendance was the esteemed Provost of the prestigious Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye; Deputy Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Dr. Adeboye Ola; guest discussant of the event.
Mrs. Melony Ishola, a decorated media practitioner and the current head of programmes at Punch Videos, and Special Guest of Honour, Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin, the Executive Director of Media Career Development.
Some distinguished lecturers of the institution, including Mrs. Maureen Popoola, HOD; General Studies; Dr. Jide Johnson – Director of Special Programmes; Mr. Michael Osuji – H.O.D. Mass Communication, among many others, graced the occasion.
The day opened with a warm welcome, setting the tone for a meaningful interaction focused on reviewing and reapplying timeless African proverbs to the present-day realities.
Leading the charge was the host, a respected journalist and mentor, Mr. Sanmi Falobi, whose opening remarks laid a powerful foundation for the theme of the summit — emphasising the transformative effect of timeless African adages and proverbs that are effective and readily applicable to present-day situations, while encouraging students to embrace African cultural heritage and wise sayings.
The Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, delivered a warm remark, reminding the students of the crucial role African timeless traditions play in shaping successful communicators in a dynamic world.
The highlight of the afternoon was an engaging and heartwarming session led by Mrs. Melony Ishola — the guest discussant who bridged the gap between timeless African proverbs and modern-world realities.
Her words resonated with the youthful audience, sparking laughter, self-reflection, and a lively atmosphere.

A key moment of the event was the book review and interactive session, led by seasoned journalist and media advocacy trailblazer, Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin. With clarity and passion, he explored the themes in Timeless Lessons from African Proverbs.
He stressed the book’s relevance to modern-day communication, culture, and self-discipline. His session sparked vibrant engagement from students.
In closing, the host, Mr Sanmi Falobi, expressed his appreciation to Ekohotblog and his fellow alumni, Otunba T.J. Abass, for the kind donation, appreciating his efforts in ensuring that the book donation project was a success.
