The “Ounje Ibeju” food pack distribution, an initiative led by Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa’s administration, concluded with a resounding success on December 26, 2024, at the Community Primary School, Iberikodo.
Ekohotblog reports that the program aimed to alleviate economic hardship and spread festive cheer, leaving a lasting impact on residents of Ibeju-Lekki.
During the event, Hon. Olowa, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing citizens’ welfare.
“As a government that prioritizes the welfare of its people, we provided over 6,000 food packs containing rice, beans, and garri to households across all wards.
This initiative ensures every family celebrates Christmas joyfully despite economic challenges,” he said.

Hon. Olowa thanked the residents for their cooperation and emphasized the safety measures implemented during the distribution. He also wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
The beneficiaries included widows, teachers, people living with disabilities, unemployed youths, market women, artisans, community development associations (CDAs), religious groups, trade unions, elderly citizens, and students.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Janet Balogun, a widow from Ward E, expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“This package has brought hope to my home. May God bless Hon. Olowa and his team.”
Mr. Chibuzo Eze from the Ndigbo community added:
“This shows that the government cares about everyone in Ibeju-Lekki, regardless of their background.”
The food distribution, which began on December 20, covered all wards in Ibeju-Lekki. Distribution points included Community High School, Lakowe (Wards E and F), RCM Primary School, Ayeteju (Ward B), Ibeju High School (Ward A), FOA School, Idado (Ward D), Akodo Primary School (Ward C1), and Iberikodo Primary School (Ward C2).
Safety was ensured through the collaboration of the Lagos State Safety Commission and security agencies, including the Nigerian Armed Forces, NSCDC, Nigerian Police, and Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps.
Hon. Olowa concluded by highlighting his administration’s broader objectives:
“This exercise is one of many projects aimed at fostering economic development, social growth, and environmental sustainability. We remain committed to making life better for our people.”
The event showcased the administration’s dedication to inclusivity, welfare, and community development, earning widespread commendation from Ibeju-Lekki residents.
