Outrage as Speed Darlington Remains in Custody Despite Court Bail

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speed Darlington, detained since November 27 after his re-arrest by Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo State, had initially been arrested in October, reportedly following a petition by fellow artist Burna Boy.

The Federal High Court granted him unconditional bail, requiring his legal team to submit the court order to the police legal department for processing. The order was to be forwarded to the Force Investigation Department (FID), where the rapper is held.
Despite fulfilling all legal requirements, Speed Darlington remains in custody, sparking concerns about police noncompliance with judicial rulings.

In a statement on Thursday via his X account, Adeyanju condemned the situation, calling it a blatant disregard for the judiciary.
“The Nigerian Police have refused to release Speed Darlington, a.k.a. AKPI, despite the explicit order of the Federal High Court. This is the highest form of disrespect to the judiciary,” Adeyanju stated.
