Over 1.1m Eligible Nigerians Vaccinated Against COVID-19 – NPHCDA
- Nigeria commenced vaccination in early March, having received its first tranche of 3.9 million AstraZeneca vaccines through the Covax programme
- Health authorities had announced plans to vaccinate 109 million people against COVID-19 over a period of two years.
More than 1,100,000 Nigerians have received their first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, a data released by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) shows.
As of 4pm on Friday, 1,158,582 eligible Nigerians have been vaccinated across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The data shows that Lagos, the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria, has vaccinated 225,402 people; making it the highest in the country.
This is followed by Kano with 59,736, Kaduna-59,629, FCT-55,834, Ogun- 53,434, and Oyo- 41,836.

The states with the lowest number of vaccinated people are Taraba- 9,566, Ebonyi- 9,757 and Bayelsa- 10,759.
Lagos State announced on Thursday that it has completed the first phase of its vaccination programme having reached 88 per cent of its target population.
