Oyigbo Residents Blasts LGA Chairman As He Insist Oyigbo is Safe And Calm

  • The natives and residents of Oyigbo Local Government Area in Rivers State, have come out to strongly disagree with their Local Government Council Chairman, Gerald Oforji following his claims that the area is safe and calm in the midst of Police shooting going on in the area.

 

This took place after the curfew impose on the area by His Excellency Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Executive Governor of Rivers State. Following the hijacked peaceful End SARS Protest by the Indigenous People Organization of Biafra (IPOB) in the State. Which has caused the loss of lives and properties in Rivers State especially in Oyigbo Local Government Area.

According to reports, the Local Government Council Chairman of Oyigbo LGA, Honourable Gerald Oforji who is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, had earlier stated that the area is calm and peaceful from any form of crisis and threats to lives and properties.

He made this statement while addressing journalists at Oyigbo, when reacting to the reports of alleged killings going on in the area.

He further emphasized that, some of the pictures trending on social media platforms has no links to the happenings in Oyigbo, that the JMTF does not shoot at anyone, rather they only shoot in the air just to announce their presence. He also pleaded that people should do away with the spread of fake news that it would not help Oyigbo.

Meanwhile the Leader of the End SARS Protest Movement in Oyigbo, Simply identified as Mr. Bankz told journalists of City News Port Harcourt this Sunday evening, that he has been in the bush since Thursday last week in order to escape an alleged carnage going on in the area. Mr. Bankz further alleged that several lives have fallen from stray bullets, since the military operation started shooting in the area.
