Oyo: Court Grants ₦5m Bail to 12 Suspects in Student Murder Case

The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan on Friday granted bail to 12 suspects accused of murdering Jeffrey Akro, a student of Ajayi Crowther University.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Justice Ladiran Akintola set bail at ₦5 million for each defendant, requiring two sureties in the same amount, one of whom must be a biological parent.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge. The trial has been adjourned until February 21, 2025.

In his ruling, Justice Akintola stressed that granting bail does not imply innocence or acquittal. Victor Otomiewo, counsel for the prosecution, affirmed this, stating, “Granting bail is not a declaration of innocence or acquittal.”
