The Oyo State government on Tuesday said it has received no fewer than one hundred teachers from the federal government of Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, while receiving the Teachers in Ibadan, the state capital.
Adeniran in his speech said the Federal Government posted the teachers to the state, through the Federal Teachers Scheme (FTS) facilitated by the Universal Basic Education Commission.
Adeniran while addressing the teachers admonished them to show commitment to their duties.
He urged the new teachers to justify their selection into the scheme.
He promised that the state government is willing to integrate the teachers into the state’s service, only if the teachers perform well at their duty posts.
Adeniran while speaking further revealed that the 100 teachers would be deployed to various schools in the state.
He added that the deployment of teachers would bridge the gap in the education sector, particularly in the area of manpower.
“As far as our public primary schools are concerned, this scheme will go a long way in terms of a number of teachers that can adequately meet the population of pupils and schools in the State.
“Though we need more hands in the system, with additional 100 teachers from the scheme, this will help to cater for the pupils we have,’’ Adeniran said.
