Oyo Unrest: Police, Govt Reps Visit Ibarapa To Intercede
As part of the efforts to calm frayed nerves and douse tension, Ngozi Onadeko, Oyo commissioner of police, and delegation of the state government are have visited Igangan, Ibarapa north local government area (LGA), to broker peace between herders and residents and restore normalcy to the beleaguered town. .

There was utter pandemonium in the state on Friday and Saturday after Fulanis were attacked by Yorubas.
Prior to Friday, tension had been brewing in the town for a while following the recent atrocities and mindless attack allegedly perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.
Consequently, a youth leader in the state, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known has Sunday Igboho, gave the herders seven days ultimatum to leave the town.
He accused them of being behind the killings and kidnapping in the area and other part of the state.
On Friday, following the expiration of the ultimatum given to Fulanis, some angry and rampaging youths burnt down the house and cars of the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir.
Makinde had ordered the police to arrest anyone found stoking ethnic tension while Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), ordered that Igboho be arrested for inciting the people.
There has been tension in the area since the incident.
Fadeyi, however, said there is relative peace in the area and that the security situation is intact.
“Yes, the CP and management team with the team from the government house led by the SA security are present here in Igangan to broker peace between the Fulani and Igangan people,” Fadeyi told TheCable.
“Yes, there is relative peace by all and sundry, while the security here is not threatened in any way.”
