Panic As 40ft Container Crashes On Car Carrying Three People On Ojuelegba Bridge
Eko Hot Blog reports that the a 40ft container has on a Toyota Corolla car at the Abalti Barrack end of the Ojuelegba Bridge.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening, causing panic in the area.
However, the three people in the car were rescued alive according to a statement issued by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret, on Monday.
Margaret said the service received the rescue alert around 8:45pm and swung into action to rescue alive two male adults and a female adult who occupied the crushed car.
She revealed that tbe driver of the trailer carrying the container and his assistant escaped, adding that the victims are receiving treatment at the Lagos State Accident and Trauma Center.
“Three victims have been rescued alive at the Abalti Barrack end of the Ojuelegba Bridge, Surulere as a 40ft container trailer accidentally crashed on a Toyota Corolla car with registration number JJJ 811 FV while ascending the bridge,” the statement reads.
“The rescue alert which was triggered at 20:45 hours Sunday had the Sari Iganmu Rescue Crew of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service among other State Emergency Responsders including sympathizers rescued alive two male adult and a female adult who are occupants of the car.
“While trailer driver with assistant escaped. The three victims are being attended to at the Lagos State Accident and Trauma Center after being administered first aid on the spot of the accident.”
This incident is only the latest in a string of accidents involving containers crashing on vehicles in Lagos.
Despite the Lagos government’s efforts to fix the problem, the menace has remained.
In January, nine people, including children, were killed on the Ojuelegba Bridge after a container fell on a commercial bus.
