The residents of El-Rufa’i Estate, Abuja, were in the early hours of Sunday thrown into panic as unknown gunmen numbering over twenty invaded the area and abducted a resident and his son.
The Estate is located at Kuchiko Relocation Development Area (KRDA) in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The gunmen were said to have stormed the Estate at 12 midnight and started shooting sporadically after they overpowered the security guards on night duty.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the gun-wielding assailants after overpowering the guards headed to the house of the victim (names withheld) and took him and his son hostage.

The gunmen, who were said to have operated for an hour, later proceeded to the house of another resident and attempted to kidnap him.
The attempted abduction was however foiled by the timely arrival of soldiers from the Defence College, Bwari, who engaged the gunmen in a gun battle.
Recounting their ordeal, some residents of the area called on the authorities to beef up security around the satellite areas.
According to Daily Trust, the satellite towns in the FCT have been experiencing incidents of kidnapping for a while now, especially in Gwagwalada and Kuje area councils.
