Members of the Mount Zion Church in Oke-Aro area of Akure, Ondo State, were thrown into confusion and shock when the pastor and founder of the church, Femi Olorunsoromidayo, died while conducting burial service of one of the church members.
Olorunsoromidayo slumped and died in Erusu Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of the state while conducting the burial service for a 78-year-old church member, Mr Samuel Rotimi.
It was gathered that the late church member had told pastor to bury his remains in Akure and not in his hometown, Erusu Akoko, but the pastor was said to have succumbed to the pressure from the man’s immediate family who decided to bury him in his hometown.
According to an eyewitness, “while the pastor was conducting the burial service, he became uncomfortable and later slumped. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Akoko area where he was confirmed dead.”
The development was said to have created confusion among the church members.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, could not confirm or deny the development but said the incident was not reported.
The PPRO said “I can confirm to you that the incident was not reported at the station.”
