Patronise Public Water; It’s The Only Reliable Source, LWC Tells Lagos Residents

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Water Corporation (LWC) has urged residents to always patronise public water as it is the only reliable source of water.

The corporation made the appeal on Thursday when its Water Quality Monitoring Team was inspecting the central region of its coverage area.

During the tour, the LWC monitoring team took water samples from customers’ taps in the coverage area and analysed insitu.

According to a statement issued by the water corporation, this effort is geared towards building customers confidence on the quality of water supplied to the Lagos residents, as emphasized by the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani.

During the exercise, the LWC stressed the need for the residents to always patronise Public water, adding that the water has gone through different treatment processes to ensure its potability, unlike other sources which cannot be guaranteed.

“Public water supply is good for human consumption, because it is safe and free from5 germs as it conforms with World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Standard,” the corporation said.

Part of the central region visited during the exercise included: Gbagada, Bariga, among other zones in the region.

The LWC said the ongoing exercise is to ascertain the quality of water supplied to the customers’ homes to ensure consumption of potable water and promotion of good water, sanitation and hygiene.

The monitoring unit took water samples from the customers’ homes and analysed them on the spot, in which results would be made known to interested customers on request.
