Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rude Boy, has outlined strict conditions for signing new artists to his record label, Fire Department Inc.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Rude Boy launched Fire Department Inc. in 2019, two years after the split of Psquare, the legendary group he formed with his twin brother, Peter Okoye.
Although the duo reunited in November 2021, their reconciliation was short-lived, and they have since been at odds.
During an Instagram Live session, Rude Boy addressed the challenges of signing artists in Nigeria, noting that some artists develop a sense of entitlement after gaining fame and believe they no longer need a record label.

He stated that any artist looking to join his label must meet his stringent conditions, which include providing guarantees such as landed property and having their parents co-sign a binding contract. Additionally, any artist caught smoking would face a fine of N10 million.
Rude Boy emphasized, “Some people just believe they have outgrown record labels. So, let me tell you my demands. You will bring landed properties, and your parents will sign. The day I catch you smoking anything as my artist, it’s minus N10 million. That’s why when people ask me when I’ll sign new artists, I say I don’t know.”
