Pay Members N901m Debt, Petrol Marketers Begs Soludo

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has called on the Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, to pay its members the N901m debt owed by the state government.

IPMAN Enugu Depot Community made the call in a letter of reminder to Soludo on Friday.

The letter, signed by association’s Chairman, Mr Chinedu Anyaso and Secretary, Mr Nnaemeka Iloafor, said the appeal followed the resolution reached at its annual general meeting on February 15, 2024.

According to IPMAN, the N90m debt was from diesel supplied to the Anambra State Government and services rendered for streets streetlights in the state.

It noted, “Sequel to several previous letters addressed to your office, other government and security agencies on the above subject matter, we held our AGM and resolved to write this further letter of appeal to you.

“This is based on a report that our members are yet to be paid the debt of N900,664,805.00 owed them.

“Governor, we kindly appeal further for your intervention by settling this outstanding indebtedness to enable our dying members to recover and continue their businesses.

“Another general meeting has been scheduled for Awka in three weeks to report to our members on the progress made so far to enable us to conclude on what step to take next,” he said.”

However, efforts to get Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, for reactions proved abortive as he did not respond to messages and calls put across to him through his telephone.

In a reaction when contacted, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, whose office was overseeing the transaction, said he had yet to see a copy of the letter.
