Eko Hot Blog reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially appointed Amina Arong from Cross River State as the new National Woman Leader of the party.
This decision comes in the wake of the unfortunate passing of the former National Woman Leader, Prof Stella Effah-Attoe, in October 2023, who was a dedicated member of the PDP National Working Committee.
Prof Stella Effah-Attoe, according to her family, succumbed to a brief illness, leading to a vacancy in the crucial role within the party’s leadership.
In a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Wednesday, the party introduced Amina Arong as the individual chosen to complete the term left by Effah-Attoe.
The statement emphasized Amina Arong’s qualifications, noting that she holds a Diploma in Banking and Finance and a B.Sc. in Accounting.
The PDP expressed confidence in Arong’s abilities, highlighting her intellectual capacity, experience, competence, and vigor in mobilizing women for the party at both state and national levels.
“The new National Woman Leader brings on board to the national leadership of the PDP her intellectual capacity as well as experience, competence, and vigour in mobilizing women for the Party at both the State and National Levels,” the statement read.
The PDP acknowledged and commended Amina Arong’s longstanding commitment to the party’s growth, citing her influential roles in mobilizing various party women and youth groups across different levels.
The party also recognized her contributions to the successful conduct of party primaries and congresses in several parts of the country.
In conclusion, the PDP congratulated Amina Arong on her appointment and urged her to utilize her capacity and experience effectively.
The party looks forward to her collaboration with other members of the National Working Committee to ensure the continuous stability, growth, and success of the PDP.
