Eko Hot Blog reports that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has been appointed a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council (PCC).
The PCC’s director general and governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, disclosed Dogara’s appointment in a statement on Sunday.
The appointment comes two days after the former speaker and a group he belongs to declared their endorsement of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The Northern Leaders Consultative Forum, which Dogara is a part of, declared its support for Atiku, describing him as “the best.”
It is not immediately clear whether Dogara has renounced his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership.
He left the PDP for the APC in 2018, citing the “failure of governance” in Bauchi, where he hails from, as his motivation.
Although the former speaker is yet to comment publicly since his appointment, Tambuwal said it took effect immediately.
