EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement released on Thursday, the PDP BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, condemned Damagum’s attempt to cancel the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting slated for Monday, June 30, 2025, and his directive asking Senator Samuel Anyanwu to resume as the National Secretary of the party. Wabara insisted that both actions are null and void.
According to the BoT, the Acting National Chairman has no authority to override the resolutions made at the 99th NEC meeting held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Wabara stressed that Damagum’s moves amount to a gross abuse of office and a breach of the PDP Constitution.
The BoT declared that the scheduled NEC meeting would proceed as planned and affirmed that the Deputy National Secretary, Arc. Setonji Koshoedo, remains the Acting National Secretary until a valid decision is made by the appropriate party organ.
“The attention of the BoT has been drawn to the unconstitutional pronouncement by the Acting National Chairman purporting to cancel the 100th NEC meeting and reinstate Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary,” the statement said.
“The BoT, in defence of the PDP Constitution, declares these pronouncements null and void, as they violate the express provisions of the party’s Constitution as amended in 2017.”
The BoT emphasized that the NEC, as the party’s highest decision-making body after the National Convention, has binding authority. Wabara said that no individual, group, or organ has the power to cancel or alter the NEC meeting scheduled by the NEC itself.
The BoT also dismissed the attempt to reinstate Anyanwu as National Secretary, stating that the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) at its 600th meeting, which directed the Deputy National Secretary to act in that capacity, remains valid. Wabara described Damagum’s move as a blatant abuse of office.
“The BoT, as the conscience of the party, will not allow the PDP to descend into avoidable crisis through acts of impunity and unilateral decisions,” Wabara said.
The BoT reaffirmed three key resolutions:
-
The 100th NEC meeting will hold as scheduled on June 30, 2025.
-
Arc. Setonji Koshoedo remains the Acting National Secretary.
-
Party members must uphold the PDP Constitution and resist any attempt to destabilize the party.

PDP BoT Rejects Damagum’s Directives
The BoT warned that no personal interest is greater than the integrity of the PDP, adding that it will continue to defend due process and protect the democratic values on which the party stands.
