The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, along with other prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-East, have issued a strong warning that they may defect en masse over what they describe as persistent marginalisation by the party’s national leadership.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that this position was made public on Wednesday during the PDP Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) meeting held in Enugu. The gathering, which drew together key stakeholders of the opposition party from across the South-East geopolitical zone, saw a unified demand for the immediate recognition of Sunday Ude-Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP.

The PDP leaders expressed deep dissatisfaction with what they described as the unjust treatment of the South-East within the party’s structure. They warned that continued neglect of their demands would force them to reconsider their loyalty to the PDP.

“All the speakers at the meeting, including Ali Odefa and other party leaders present, reiterated the unanimous position of the zone to leave the PDP if corrective steps are not taken,” the report stated.
