EKO HOT BLOG reports that the high-level meeting was convened by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, under the auspices of the PDP Governors’ Forum. It comes on the heels of a similar gathering held recently in Ibadan, where initial resolutions were made to stabilise the party.
Present at the meeting were Governors Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).
Also in attendance were PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; Secretary of the Board of Trustees and former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi; and several influential former governors including Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Samuel Ortom (Benue).
Other key figures at the closed-door session included former Senate President and ex-Kwara Governor, Bukola Saraki; Babangida Aliyu (Niger); Adamu Muazu (Bauchi); Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto); Sule Lamido (Jigawa); and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).
Discussions during the meeting reportedly centred on critical matters affecting the party, including the contentious National Secretary position, plans for the upcoming National Elective Convention, the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for May 27, and strategies to stem the tide of recent defections rocking the party.
According to reports, formal invitations had been extended to former governors, members of the National Working Committee, and representatives of the party’s Board of Trustees ahead of the Abuja gathering.
