PDP Governors Summon Emergency Meeting Over Internal Disputes
As the internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intensifies, the PDP Governors Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has called for an emergency meeting on Monday to address the growing concerns within the party.
Governor Mohammed urged the factional acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, to restore calm by reverting to the status quo amid rising tensions.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that since taking over after the removal of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, Damagum has faced criticism from party leaders and calls for his resignation.
On Friday, the situation worsened when Damagum’s faction suspended National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade for alleged insubordination.
In response, Ologunagba’s camp announced the suspension of Damagum and National Secretary Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, naming National Treasurer Yayari Ahmed Mohammed as the acting National Chairman.
Sources revealed that some stakeholders are considering the formation of a caretaker committee to guide the party toward a National Convention in 2025, as reconciliation seems unlikely under the current leadership. However, ongoing litigation and factional disputes are complicating efforts.
The upcoming PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on October 24th is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the party’s future.
Key figures like former National Vice Chairman Eddy Olafeso and PDP Deputy National Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor emphasized the need for unity and decisive actions to resolve leadership and discipline challenges.
The Monday emergency meeting will likely determine the next steps in steering the PDP through its internal crisis and toward lasting stability.
