PDP Governors Visit Jonathan, Seeks Support For Diri

The Governors of Peoples Democratic Party have visited the former president Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state.
The governors’ visit was to solicit the support of the ex-president for the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Mr Douye Diri in the November 16 gubernatorial election.
The governors met the ex-president at his Abuja residence in a close door meeting.
One of the governors who attended the meeting spoke on anonymity revealed that they were there to solicit support for the PDP’s candidate ahead of the governorship poll in Bayesal state.
He said “We appeal to the ex-President to let go of ill-feelings and grievances he may have over the emergence of Diri during the November 3 primary, as it was perceived that the Bayelsa State Governor, Seraike Dickson, blocked Jonathan’s nominee from emerging the PDP governorship standard-bearer in the state.”
One the governors debunked the rumor that Jonathan has defected to the All Progressive Congress. The source said that his name and influence would be battered, if Lyon won the governorship election.
He said, “The ex-President said, as an elder and party leader, he had no personal grievances against Diri or Dickson and that the insinuation that he had problems with Dickson was the handiwork of some politicians, who wanted to cash in on his humility and political lifestyle.”
