PDP Govs Meeting ‘Political Jamboree’, Buhari Committed To Tackling Insecurity – APC

  • “The supposed PDP governors consultative meeting turned out to be a political jamboree”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says, president Muhammadu Buhari is not lethargic or indifferent to the widespread insecurity in Nigeria, noting that its commitment to rid the country of all form of challenges is unrivalled.

Ekohotblog reports that he ruling party said this in reaction to claims made by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday that the president has not done enough to address the multiple challenges confronting the nation.

Governors of the PDP, on Monday, met in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, after which they tagged the President Muhammadu Buhari government “incompetent and rudderless”.

The governors also called on the presidency to make decisive and proactive moves to reduce tension and curb insecurity.

Reacting in a statement, the APC said the opposition governors wasted their time on name-calling instead of seizing the meeting to proffer “meaningful and patriotic contributions on the review of the state of the nation”.

The ruling party argued that Buhari’s achievement in governance, economy and security are second to none, noting that the president was working assiduously to tackle challenges bedevilling the nation.

“It is disappointing that the supposed PDP governors consultative meeting turned out to be a political jamboree and its outcome a waste of time with no substance,” the statement reads.

“The efforts and records of the President Muhammadu Buhari government on revamping the economy, devolution of powers, governance, upgrading the country’s security architecture, addressing perennial farmer-herder crisis/clashes, public sector reforms, is visible and unmatched.

“Nigerians recall that President Buhari on 20th May 2020 signed an executive order on implementation of financial autonomy for state legislature and state judiciary, which the same PDP governors have rejected.

“This government will continue to identify and partner with patriotic and well-meaning individuals and interests in all determined efforts to make the country better and address our challenges.”
