- Kwara PDP Lambasts Kwara State Governor for appointing his relative as State’s Accountant General.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has described the ‘Governor of the Year award’ confered on Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as an endorsement of failure and incompetence, saying the governor had done nothing to merit such award.
EkoHotBlog reports that the Kwara PDP said it was surprised that a Governor whose administration has been heavily criticised for ineptitude, nepotism, insensitivity, corruption, flagrant abuse of power, disregard for rule of law and brazen violation of human rights was considered for the award.
In a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, the party said “the award was another face-saving attempt and political damage control by Governor Abdulrazaq. It also offends the sensibilities of Kwarans who have lost hope and confidence in the APC-led administration due to the Governor’s poor performance in office.”
The party added that no amount of solicited awards and endorsements could change the fact that the Governor was a ‘complete failure’.
Also, the Kwara PDP has lambasted Governor Abdulrazaq for appointing his relative as the new Accountant General of the State, describing the appointment as unacceptable and an insult to Kwarans.
The party accused the governor of nepotism and asked him to reverse the appointment in the interest of the State, noting that such development portends grave consequences on transparency and accountability.
The statement reads “It is nauseating that at a time when genuine leaders are busy thinking of how best to make government and governance more open to the citizenry, Mallam Abdulrazaq is appointing his family members to positions of authority and has reduced governance to family affairs.”
