EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is taking members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for granted on the issue of securing the presidential ticket.
Governor Wike was reacting to Atiku’s comment after a meeting with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Alake of Egbaland in Ogun State on Saturday.

Atiku had told newsmen that he would declare his intention to run for the 2023 presidential election after meeting with those that mattered in the political scene.
“Have I ever failed to get the ticket? I’m confident,” he said.
In a statement on Sunday by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, Wike said the outcome of the PDP presidential primary will be surprising.
According to the governor, the former vice-president went too far with his comment.
He also warned politicians and party members to resist making divisive utterances as the PDP pushes to reclaim power in 2023.
Wike said: “I didn’t expect him frankly speaking to say that he will always take the ticket of the party. That is going too far and taking the delegates for granted.
“People should watch. There will be shock as far as PDP convention is concerned. People should watch what is going to happen. People like to underrate so many persons and it is not good in politics.”
He, however, said whoever emerges from all the aspirants should be rest assured that the entire party will rally round and make sure that he wins the 2023 presidential election.
Wike also commended the PDP leadership in Plateau, Cross River, and Ondo states for the party’s performance in Saturday’s by-elections.
He attributed the victory of the PDP in the Jos North/Bassa federal constituency in Plateau State to the recent decision of the former Plateau State governor, Jonah Jang and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Jeremiah Useni to set aside their differences and work for the interest of the party.
Wike also lauded the PDP for winning the Akpabuyo State Constituency by-election in Cross River State, irrespective of the violence unleashed by the APC government in the State.
He praised the former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and other leaders of the party for the impressive performance of the party in Saturday’s bye-election. According to him, the prospects of the party in the 2023 general election remains bright.
