PDP Sweeps All Council Seats In Latest LG Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates have been declared winner of all 21 council seats in the just-concluded Local Government (LG) election in Adamawa State.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Mohammed Umar, made this known in the results released on Sunday evening at the commission’s headquarters in Yola, the state capital.

Umar said the ruling PDP also won all the councillorship seats in the 226 wards in the North-East state except the Demsa Ward of the Demsa Local Government Area, where the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) won one councillorship seat.

He added that out of the 19 registered political parties in the state, 12 participated in the exercise.

PDP Clears All Chairmanships Positions In LG Poll

In a similar development, the People’s Democratic Party won all chairmanship seats and 499 of 500 wards in Delta State council poll, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) emerged victorious in one ward.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured a sweeping victory in Saturday’s local government elections, winning all seats across 500 wards in Delta State’s 25 Local Government Areas.

Ten political parties participated in the election with candidates vying for both chairmanship and councillorship positions.

Dr. Raphael Agbaike, Chief Electoral Officer and Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, declared the results. He announced that the PDP won in 24 Local Government Areas in the July 13, 2024 election. Notably, the chairmanship candidate of the PDP in Udu Local Government Area was returned unopposed.

“The PDP candidates for councillorship positions contested and won 499 electoral wards, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won one electoral ward in Oshimili North Local Government Area,” Agbaike stated.
