The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is moving against alleged anti-party activities, with a focus on Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and several former governors.
The PDP’s National Disciplinary Committee, led by ex-Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi, has launched an investigation based on reports from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Wike, alongside former governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), are accused of undermining the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 elections.
The group, known as the G-5, reportedly opposed the party’s directives following a fallout over the refusal of former National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu to step down in favor of a southern candidate, deepening divisions within the PDP.
PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi confirmed that Wike and the others will be summoned to appear before the disciplinary panel to address the allegations.
Abdullahi stated, “We have set up two committees: one to reconcile and another to discipline those involved in anti-party activities. They are now preparing letters to invite Wike and others to explain their roles before, during, and after the elections.”
When asked if other G-5 members would face similar scrutiny, Abdullahi responded, “If Wike is summoned, the others will also be called, especially as Wike is seen as the leader of the group.”
Despite the ongoing investigation, PDP leaders believe the probe will strengthen party discipline rather than create further divisions.
A senior member of the NWC, speaking anonymously, confirmed that reports on anti-party activities had been submitted to Ikimi’s committee but noted that Wike and others had not yet been formally invited for the probe.
