‘Peace & Development’: Lagos Deputy Governor Calls For Partnership With Royal Fathers

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat today called for partnership of the government with Royal fathers and the traditional institution for peace and overall development.

Dr Hamzat made this request at a symposium in commemoration of the 20th coronation anniversary of the Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun held at the VIP Chalet in Epe titled “The role of Kings (Obas) in National and Local Economic Development”.

He said peace and overall development cannot be achieved without the cooperation of the Royal fathers and the traditional institution that is closest to the people. He said the Lagos state government has a mutual and sustainable relationship with the council of Obas and Chiefs which is what successive government in Lagos state has been leveraging on.

Dr Obafemi Hamzat however dissuaded citizens from relegating their traditional languages, culture, moral and ethics as they are the foundation of proper and sound upbringing of a child.

He congratulated the Royal father and others present for their continued support to the Gov Sanwoolu led administration and promised to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to Lagosians. He thereafter presented an autobiography of Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun which will be launched at a later date.
