Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi successfully underwent emergency hip replacement surgery on Saturday after sustaining injuries during a visit to Luxembourg.
Her spokesperson, Ian Krager, confirmed she is recovering well.
Pelosi, 84, was injured while descending marble stairs during a bipartisan congressional visit to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
She received care at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg, where she expressed gratitude for their excellent treatment.
The Democratic leader, known as the first woman to serve as US House Speaker, stepped down from the role in 2023 but remains a California representative with significant influence in Congress.
Krager added that Pelosi is thankful for the prayers and well wishes she has received and remains committed to advocating for quality health care access for all Americans.
