The Labour Party Directorate on Mobilization and Integration made this announcement in response to social media rumors claiming that the party had reconciled with the Apapa-led faction and agreed to field a different candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The directorate emphasized the importance of unity among party members and stakeholders for success in future elections but firmly denied reports that Peter Obi has been replaced as the preferred presidential candidate.

This clarification was provided in a statement signed by the Director General of the Directorate, Marcel Ngogbehei, the Deputy Director of Media and Communications, Aju Elumelu, and the Deputy Director of Strategic Engagement, Sheikh Rufai Al-Saddiq. They stressed the party’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, resolving internal misunderstandings, and focusing on the broader goal of liberating Nigeria from corrupt politicians and building a nation that protects its citizens’ interests. The statement also noted attempts by the opposition to misinform the public and create further crises within the party for their own selfish interests.

“For the records, this Directorate was setup to facilitate reconciliation and help mobilize and integrate Labour Party stakeholders toward electoral victory for our Presidential Candidate H.E Peter Obi come 2027.
