Obi and Okupe
EDITOR’S PICK
EKO HOT BLOG reports that presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has picked Doyin Okupe as his running mate ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.
Okupe was Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
While there has been no official statement yet, Peoples Gazette quoted Okupe as saying on Friday evening that Obi picked him because he found him worthy to serve.
“Yes, I am the vice-presidential candidate of our party because I was found worthy by the candidate and the party to serve,” he reportedly confirmed.
Obi’s move follows the announcement of Kabir Ibrahim Masari as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Although party sources I’ve claimed that Masari was a placeholder to meet up with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) June 17 deadline.
