Petr Cech has spoken about Thomas Tuchel’s fate at Chelsea following the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the west London club.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Petr Cech, Chelsea’s technical and performance adviser, on Sunday, admitted that he hopes Thomas Tuchel stays at Chelsea following sanctions against owner Roman Abramovich.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich was hit with a number of sanctions by the UK Government on Thursday because of his alleged links to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who received considerable criticism worldwide following his decision to invade Ukraine last month.

The reigning champions of Europe have since been forced to make several concessions that mean they are currently unable to negotiate player contracts or buy and sell players, with speculation also surrounding the future of head coach Tuchel, and Cech has now spoken about the German’s situation at Stamford Bridge

Speaking about Tuchel on Sky Sports, Cech said: “Thomas (Tuchel) is contracted until 2024 and as it stands, the contracts should be able to run through until they are meant to finish and we hope to have him as a coach because since has come in he has been absolutely brilliant, but it is another thing because tomorrow, the situation could change and my answer is then irrelevant.”

Jamie Carragher also weighed in on the former Borussia Dortmund boss, praising the way that Tuchel has handled himself in recent weeks.

I think right now, he is vitally important,” Carragher said.

“We know that he is a fantastic manager with his record, but the way that he has handled himself in the past couple of weeks has really showed what type of guy is and not just the quality football manager that we know.

“He has been the figurehead for Chelsea Football Club, he has been asked questions constantly, before games and after games and I think he has come across really well.
