EKO HOT BLOG reports that Chelsea legend, Petr Cech has stepped down from his role as Technical director and Advisor of Chelsea Football Club.
The Blues legend spent ten years at the club during his playing career before returning following a stint with Arsenal before his retirement.
Cech’s departure follows the exits of Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck, who have both left their roles since Boehly completed his takeover of the club from Roman Abramovich.
While Boehly had expected the pair to depart, he was counting on Cech remaining at Stamford Bridge and had asked the 40-year-old to form part of the new set-up at the club.
But Cech said he felt now was the right time for him to step aside, adding that he is pleased the Stamford Bridge club is now in an excellent position with the new owners.
Chelsea disclosed this in a statement via its website on Monday morning.
The statement partly read, “Chelsea Football Club today announces that Petr Cech, Technical and Performance Advisor, will leave his role effective 30 June.”
Reacting, Cech told Chelsea’s official website: “It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years. With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside.
