EKO HOT BLOG reports that on Monday, Fire Brigade personnel retrieved a dead human corpse discovered in the Asa River, near Emir’s Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Hakeem Hassan Adekunle, the spokesman for the state Fire Brigade, said the deceased was discovered with his wrists tied behind his back and his head covered with a torn wrapping, according to a statement released in Ilorin.
Residents in the neighbourhood discovered a dead human body floating in the river, which drew the notice of one Olamilekan, according to Hakeem.
The body was evacuated by brigade operations around 1440 hours, he added, adding that no substantial proof on the reason of the tragedy had been uncovered.
The statement added that the unidentified body was handed over to Superintendent Ajape, SP, of the state police command, who led a team of officers investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the Director of the state fire brigade, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness on the development and advised members of the public to be vigilant to prevent future occurrences.
